TXU cancels 8 of 11 proposed coal fired plants!

It looks like the coal plants aren't all dead in Texas. Instead they want to build 2 "Clean coal" plants. Hmm ... "clean coal", is that like "partially pregnant"? Yes, well, that's what they say. At least they plan to build it close to some existing oil fields, instead of someone's backyard. The notion is, "We will burn the coal and capture the carbon we produce and pump it into the oil fields and bury it. Hopefully it will stay down in the ground and, as a side benefit, it will help us pump more oil out of the ground." Win-win, right? Well, as long as the carbon stays in the ground. Then it's definitely win, lose. |
